Online sources are speculating that Google will launch its latest Android OS version codenamed "Ice cream", in June or July 2011. Google usually does have two or three Android launches per year, but it has yet to comment on the "Ice cream" release-date rumours.
Android versions are usually nicknamed in alphabetical order; it all started with Android 1.5 ("Cupcake"), and since then we have seen Android 1.6 (“Donut”), Android 2.0 (“Eclair”) , Android 2.2 (“Froyo”), and Android 2.3 (“Gingerbread”).
Sony Ericsson’s new Xperia Arc will run Gingerbread, confirmed the company’s Head of Marketing, Peter Farmer. Its successor, “Honeycomb”, is expected to run on Motorola’s Xoom tablet PC this Spring.
